June Goal

My June Goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes is to piece the top of my Venice quilt.  Of course, I have to cut the pieces first.  I have settled on the palette and started cutting the strips. I did two trial blocks last week, the first one is a good size but it looks sloppy and the heart design isn't distinct enough.  I like the second one much better, but it's huge and needs to be downsized in order to work well with my Tapestry.  My plan is to have three Heart Blocks in the top row and three in the bottom row, with the Venice Tapestry centered between... at the moment unknown blocks.   June will be a 'travel free' month, so meeting my goal shouldn't be difficult.

    1. I'm almost ready to start cutting the blocks, I'm hoping the fabrics aren't so dark that the hearts aren't distinct with the black background... I guess I'll soon find out ;)

  2. I personally liked the look of the first block better. Sounds like it will be a fun top to make.

    1. I was thinking it was too messy looking... but maybe if I used blocks instead of strips on the background. Maybe I'll have to try one more 'trial' block and see...

    1. Thank you :) I'm still waffling between the two designs.

  4. I think that so long as you're careful with the print furthest to the left (floral with black background), your hearts should be distinct. Good luck with your goal!

    1. I want the hearts all to be different, had thought about rows of each print switched around for each one... but in order to keep the darker ones in the middle I'll have to change that. Random it us,,, well, as random as I can go ;)
