Penny's Purple Quilt

Finished the top this morning, the backing and binding will be the same print as the outer border.  The lettering is a bit wonky (one N is definitely bigger than the rest of the letters, but kind of suits a 5 year old  :)  This was a fun project and gave me lots of practice working with half square triangles.  The wind wasn't cooperating very well this morning, but I managed one decent picture :)

  1. Looks great! If you hadn't mentioned one N being bigger than the other, I wouldn't even have noticed. Don't you just love HSTs? Did you make them one at a time or use one of those time saver techniques? I'm sure it will be loved to bits by the recipient!

  2. I made them the normal way (two squares together, sew either side of drawn middle line) which was a bit tedious for the letters, but only a few needed so I didn't oan too much. I made diagrams of the letters first using PSPP on the computer. I didn't do them all in the same sitting and changed my foot on the second N, which probably accounts for it's larger size. LOL That quarter inch seam gives me fits ;)

Thanks for the link, I'll save it and look into linking up with my next finish. I haven't actually 'finished' much as of yet. A couple of tops done, but no actual quilting. Hoping to alter that soon.
